One of the best parts about the holidays is all the festive food and drink! And even if you’re trying to avoid alcohol, that doesn’t mean you need to miss out. Try this tasty drink that is modeled after mulled wine.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups water
  • Handful of dried hibiscus
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar
  • Handful of cranberries (fresh or dried)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3-5 cardamom pods
  • 1-2 anise pods
  • 2-3 whole cloves
  • 1 orange

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients except the orange.
  2. Remove the zest from the orange in long strips using a vegetable peeler (avoid as much of the white pith as possible) and add to mixture. Juice the orange and then add the juice to the mixture.
  3. Heat until deep red and fragrant. (Pick your favorite method–stovetop, Instant Pot (approximately 5 minutes will do), crockpot, etc.)
  4. Strain.
  5. Serve hot.
