Dia de los Muertos
Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a celebration of the memory of departed friends and family which takes place on November 1 and 2. It’s believed that during this time the spirits of the dead return to spend time among their loved ones and their return is celebrated with festivities and altars offering up food and drink to the spirits.
Celebrations at Sandos Caracol
Sandos Caracol offers visitors a taste of tradition…without ever having to leave the resort! Guests can take part in face painting, parades, try traditional food and drink, and enjoy live music and dancing over this two day celebration. Special kids’ programs offer opportunities to play games and decorate sugar skulls. Employees erect beautiful, intricate altars in memory of loved ones and celebrities…including a beautiful memorial to pets, which guests are invited to add a photo to (they can even help you print an image from your phone or social media).
