Visiting the Disney World Horses

From big draft horses to fancy white wedding ponies, horses have long been an integral part of the Disney experience.  Thanks to a recent stable remodel, these working horses live a comfortable and stylish life on Disney property.  And you can stop in and visit them!

Tri-Circle D Stables

Located at Fort Wilderness, Tri-Circle D is the home to the happiest horses on Earth.  The ranch is divided into two main portions—the trail riding stables at the resort’s main entrance…and the working horse stables deeper in the Fort Wilderness complex.

Getting there

You can use Disney’s complementary transportation to get to the Tri-Circle D stables.  Unfortunately, you can’t go directly from one hotel to another, so you’ll have to travel to a central location such as one of the parks or Disney Springs first.  From there you can take a bus to Fort Wilderness.  Once you’ve arrived at Fort Wilderness, you’ll need to transfer to their internal bus system to get to the Settlement Depot where the stable is located.  (Don’t worry, all the busses stop there.  But if you’re not sure, just ask the bus driver!)

Other transport options include taking a more direct route using a ride share or driving yourself if you have a car.  However, if you’re dropped off or park at the main entrance to Fort Wilderness, you’ll still need to use the internal bus system to get to the Settlement Depot.

What to see

A small section of the Tri-Circle D stables is open to the public.  You can visit several of the horses in their stalls, peruse videos and photos of Disney’s horse legacy through the years, check out the harnesses used by many of the horses in the stable, see a (huge) horse drawn calliope, and watch cast members work behind the scenes in the stables.

Other things to do

Tri-Circle D Ranch also offers pony rides, guided trail rides, and carriage/wagon rides.
