One of the best parts about visiting Pawhuska, OK is getting to eat in the Pioneer Woman’s restaurants.  You have several to pick from and, no matter which one you choose, you won’t be disappointed!  (For more information on taking a trip to Pawhuska, check out this blog post.)

The Mercantile

The original restaurant, located in the Mercantile, offers both sit down and to go versions of all your favorite country dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  It is super popular (for good reason!) and can get quite busy at times, so make sure you plan accordingly.  I have to highly recommend eating breakfast here where there are plenty of choices for vegetarians. Vegetarian options get a bit more limited at lunch and dinner, but a meal comprised of some of the excellent side dishes doesn’t disappoint.

Coffee shop/Bakery

The second story of the Mercantile is home to a fabulous bakery and coffee shop.  Plus, there’s also a ton of seating if you need a quiet break from shopping.  You can even watch the bakers prepare all the sweet treats through a window that looks in to the kitchen.  The baked goods change from day to day, so be sure to check out the display to discover what goodies are available.

P-Town Pizza

Located across the street from the Mercantile, P-Town Pizza specializes in wood fired pizzas.  The restaurant is located above Charlie’s Sweet Shop and has a great balcony that overlooks the street.  You’ll find lots of creative topping combinations here, including a couple different vegetarian options, or you can always design your own.

Charlie’s Sweet Shop

The latest addition to the Pioneer Woman’s restaurant options in Pawhuska is Charlie’s Sweet Shop.  Named in memory of one of her Basset Hounds who was the ‘ultimate sweetheart,’ the shop serves up Tillamook ice cream with a variety of toppings.  It’s a great choice for an afternoon snack…if you’re not too full already!

Recommendations of what to eat:

Pancakes at the Mercantile—served with three different compound butters and three different infused syrups

Spicy Cowgirl—iced coffee, chocolate, and chile…topped off with whipped cream!

Any of the specialty croissants at the bakery

Pizza-Ree-A at P-Town Pizza—a fresh and tangy vegetarian pizza with goat cheese, tomatoes, and balsamic

Lemonade—nothing watered down or boring about this lemonade!
