Located in scenic southern Utah, Best Friends Sanctuary is home to over 1,700 animals. And you’re welcome to visit!
Where is Best Friends Sanctuary located?
The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is located just outside Kanab, Utah. The town of Kanab is conveniently situated relatively central to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Antelope Canyon in Page, and the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
Where to Stay
While there are lots of choices of places to stay in Kanab, the Best Friends Roadhouse is a perfect choice if you plan on visiting Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. This super pet friendly hotel offers a free vegan breakfast and a shuttle to the sanctuary. You can even invite a dog, cat, or rabbit from the sanctuary to stay with you for an overnight sleepover if desired!
Guided Tours
One of the best ways to learn about the sanctuary is through a guided tour! A variety of options are offered daily…from an informative general overview to tours highlighting specific aspects of their program. Tours are free, but must be reserved in advance.
On Your Own
If you don’t opt for a guided tour, there are several places that you can explore on your own. Visit the welcome center to learn more about the organization, spend time with adoptable animals, and do some shopping. Go hiking on the Hidden Lake Walking Trail or Angels Overlook Trail…or take a stroll through a labyrinth. Spot a barn that was used as a set for Disney’s Ten Little Indians or a rock that looks just like a turtle. Spend a few moments of remembrance at Angels Rest, a beautiful memorial animals who have passed.
How to Volunteer
Want to get a little more hands on? Best Friends offers visitors the opportunity to volunteer directly with the animals! Volunteer shifts last approximately 3 hours and you can choose whether you want to work with dogs, cats, horses, pigs, bunnies, parrots, and more! Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians can even arrange to help out in the clinic. Have a family member or travelling companion who prefers plants to pets? No problem! Best Friends also has landscaping volunteer opportunities. Check out this page for more information about volunteering during your visit.
Vegan Lunch Buffet
One thing you won’t want to miss during your visit is the vegan lunch buffet at Angel Village. Offered from 11:30a-1:00p…the menu changes every day…and it’s only $5!
