The Best Bakeries to Try in Paris

Bakeries are easy to come by in Paris…pick any street and you’ll walk past plenty!  But how do you know which ones to try?  These were my favorites during my last trip to Paris!

Raspberry croissant at Bo&Mie

Bo&Mie

I took a baking class while I was in Paris and Bo&Mie was the instructor’s recommendation for his (current) favorite croissant in the city…so there wasn’t any question about whether to try them.  In addition to the standard croissants (which are amazing in the own right), they had colorful variations including raspberry and chocolate praline.  I opted for the raspberry and it didn’t disappoint!

18 Rue de Turbigo

Du Pains et des Idees

For even more unique variations on traditional favorites, try Du Pains et des Idees for tasty pinwheels (escargots).  While they do have the usual raisin version, for the more adventurous (or those who just don’t like raisins) there are fun options like chocolate and pistachio.  Their bread is amazing as well.  Be prepared for a bit of a line if you come at a popular time…they’re worth the wait. (Important note….they are NOT open on weekends!)

34 Rue Yves Toudic

Cinnamon bun at Circus Bakery

Circus Bakery

This place was so new they didn’t even have a sign (or apparently a website) up yet, just their name written on the glass of the front door.  But I’d heard incredible things about Circus Bakery’s cinnamon buns…and I just had to check it out.  I got there shortly after opening and they’d already gone through an entire tray.  Thankfully, though, a second tray was just minutes away from coming out of the oven and I scored a steaming cinnamon bun to eat on my walk to Notre Dame.

63 Rue Galande

Boulangerie Utopie

Another amazing bakery that is pushing the boundaries and trying new things.  Boulangerie Utopie’s selection seems to be ever changing with new creations appearing every couple weeks.  With so many beautiful options in the display case, don’t forget about their incredible bread too.  You’ll likely encounter a line here as well at busy times of the day…the wait is worth it.

20 Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud

Tarte citron at A. Lacroix Patissier

A. Lacroix Patissier

A. Lacroix Patissier is the perfect place for an afternoon snack.  They have a display case full of fancy treats and even have a decent list of hot teas to choose from.  I have to highly recommend grabbing a seat at the window (or outdoors on a nice day) to admire the incredible view as you enjoy your selection.

11 Quai de Montebello

Pain au chocolat at Paul

Paul

Sometimes you just need convenience and consistency…and Paul will give you both.  Located all over the city (and in some museums), you’re never too far from one of your favorite treats.  And don’t worry…the quality is still excellent.  One of my go-to options when I don’t know the area.

Erik Kaiser

Another reliable option with branches all over the city.  Erik Kaiser produces high quality product with the added benefit of convenience.  This is another of my go-to options when I don’t know the area.
