How to Score Discount Broadway Tickets

Want to check out a Broadway show, but you’re on a budget? No worries! There are lots of ways to score discount Broadway tickets.

TKTS

Probably the most well known way to score discount Broadway Tickets is the TKTS booth. With a convenient location in Times Square, you can purchase same day tickets to plays and musicals at a discount. However, it’s first come, first served…and you’ll have to stand in line to buy your tickets in person. To get an idea of what is available, you can check out the TKTS app which lists the shows and ticket prices in real time.

Rush/Lottery

Many popular shows have a rush or lottery option which allows you to buy a limited number of tickets at a reduced price. Depending on the show, these may be held online, in person, or both. Be sure to check out the particular show you’re interested in’s rush/lottery policies (usually located on their website).

Online Discount Websites

There are a variety of websites that sell discounted tickets or offer discount codes. Popular ones to check out include: TodayTix, Broadway Box, TheaterMania, and Playbill.

Pick less popular seats/days

Friday and Saturday evening are the most popular show times…and also the most expensive! If your schedule allows for attending on a weekday or a matinee, you can often manage to find cheaper tickets available. Also, most theaters have discounted seats that offer a partially obstructed view of the stage and some even offer discounted standing room tickets.

Sign up for the show’s newsletter

Consider signing up for a show’s e-mail list, as some offer special access to discount codes or access to early ticket purchasing options to subscribers.

Broadway Roulette

Don’t care what show you see? Take a chance on playing Broadway Roulette. You pick the day and pay a fixed price ($49-$59)…and on the day of the show you’ll get an e-mail telling you what you’ll be seeing.

Consider off Broadway shows

Broadway isn’t the only option. Off Broadway and off off Broadway shows can be just as enjoyable…and a fraction of the cost. Eventually some of them even make it to Broadway and you can brag that you saw the show back when it first started!
