Sometimes the best finds are a little out of the way. Check out these incredible Kansas coffeehouses that are a few steps off the beaten path.
Lindsborg, KS: The White Peacock Tea and Coffee Company
The White Peacock in Lindsborg serves not only a variety of amazing drinks (with an ever-changing selection of specials dreamed up by their employees) but some incredible food as well. Go ahead…add a little Swedish flair with some lingonberries! Sedan, KS: Aunt B’s Ice Cream, Bakery, and Coffee House
Located in Sedan, Kansas, Aunt B’s serves up coffee, a wide selection of teas, beautiful baked goods, and even ice cream in their beautiful historic building. While in town, you can enjoy the world’s longest yellow brick road, the Emmett Kelly museum, and in the spring the town is filled with music during the Chautauqua Hills Blues Festival.
Osawatomie, KS: Bore da Market
One of the newest coffeehouses on the list, the Bore da Market in Osawatomie is part coffeehouse and part fresh and gourmet foods market! Here you can get your favorite coffee and tea drinks (they make one of the best London Fog lattes I’ve ever had!), decadent freshly made baked goods, in house smoked meats, fresh produce (some even grown in the community garden), hard to find specialty products, and even some cute potted plants.
Turner, KS: The Windmill KC
It’s true that Kansas City is filled with incredible coffeeshops, but if you’re looking to get off the beaten path The Windmill KC in Turner is an excellent choice. Offering a wide selection of coffee and tea options as well as baked goods from Scratch bakery (and specialty items such as gluten free from Three Bears bakery), The Windmill is certain to have something to please everyone. You can also occasionally catch vegan popup events and live music in their space.
Independence, KS: Ane Mae’s Coffee and Sandwich Shop
Located right downtown in Independence, Kansas, Ane Mae’s serves up all your tea and coffee favorites, fresh baked goods, and a variety of tasty lunch options. While in town, you can enjoy the Riverside Park and Zoo, the Independence history museum, or even visit the place where Laura Ingalls Wilder once lived. If you visit around Halloween, you’ll find the town transformed for a week long festival called Neewollah (that would be ‘Halloween’ spelled backwards!).
