Taking the Eurostar between London and Paris

Okay, so it isn’t exactly the Hogwarts Express, but being able to travel between Paris and London in little over 2 hours is pretty magical.  The Eurostar offers fast, comfortable, and convenient travel between the two cities.

What is the Eurostar?

The Eurostar is a high speed train that connects several major cities in Europe.  It’s a convenient and comfortable way to travel.  No need to deal with airports, paying for luggage, carry on restrictions, etc.  Just sit back and enjoy the scenery as you travel cross country.

Destinations

One of the most common routes is Paris to London.  You can travel from the Gare du Nord in Paris to St. Pancras in London in a little over two hours.  However, the Eurostar also has routes to Brussels, Amsterdam, and Lyon.  You can be in a completely different city or country in just a few hours!

Classes of Travel

There are three classes of travel on Eurostar trains.  Standard travel is the most basic though it does include luggage and drinks/snacks are available for purchase.  Standard Premier offers more spacious seats, dedicated power stations, and a light meal/snacks during your trip.  Business class is the most expensive, with additional luggage allowances, power stations, a multi course meal during your trip, and use of lounges at the train stations.

Cost

The cost of Eurostar tickets can vary greatly.  They are the least expensive the earlier you purchase them.  So make sure to book your tickets as soon as you know your travel plans.  In general, ticket prices run approximately $50-$150 depending on when you purchase them.

Clearing immigration

One of the best parts about taking the Eurostar is that you deal with border control prior to getting on the train!  Which means when you get to your destination, you simply disembark and start to enjoy your trip.  No worries.  No hassles.
